Allergy Skin Testing

We offer two comprehensive panels:

  • Aeroallergens (seasonal pollens, grasses, weeds, molds, dust mites, dogs, cats, etc)
  • Foods (nuts, shellfish, eggs, wheat, milk, soy, fruits, vegetables, and more)

***Do not take any antihistamines for a full 5 days prior to allergy testing***
(for a full list of antihistamines, click here)

The allergy skin test is typically done on the back with a series of small scratches. If you are allergic to something, the spot on the skin where that allergen was placed will get red and itchy with a little welt very similar to a mosquito bite. We know the results of the skin test within 20 minutes.

Sometimes, if a test is inconclusive or we need more information, we may need to do additional testing in the office or send you to a lab to get blood tests.
